Do you remember the two-person exhibition we held in 2022 with Lina Sun Park at our gallery? Now, a true masterpiece of a photobook, "The Marble," by New York-based artist David Brandon Geeting, has arrived.

In this work, David significantly expands his range of photographic expression, crafting a unique world that at times even feels comical. His distinctive style emerges from a blend of the glossy textures and fashion-like staging seen in commercial photography, the sterile nature of stock photos, and the peculiar dissonance of amateur photography.
The result is a sophisticated yet enigmatic narrative, a book imbued with both humor and warmth.

David's career began in 2012, after graduating from the School of Visual Arts in 2011. While working at a juice bar, he took photos and posted them on Tumblr, where his work gained attention, leading him to expand his activities into commercial photography and fashion.
Against this backdrop, his creative process evolved to traverse the boundaries of imagery. This approach is carried through to "The Marble," where the tension between chaos and control is lightly expressed. Everyday objects rise up like characters, colors and textures hint at emotions, and visual rhythm resonates more powerfully than narrative logic.

In its quiet moments, this work poses questions about life, and in its unique scenes, it even incorporates the idea of seeing the world from an ant's perspective.

The foreword is written by musician Caroline Polachek, for whom David has taken artist photos. Her perspective, sharing David's interest in surfaces, sensations, and the boundaries between reality and fiction, further enriches the world of this book.

What world emerges when photography sheds its own constraints and ego...? The viewer will witness a world that is strange yet beautiful, and kind to the heart. Hypersplash.
