KFAXXX: Calling Cards From London is a collection of business cards from sex workers that were posted in telephone booths in early 1990s London.
Jean-Louis Huhta, an electronic musician known as Dungeon Acid, visited London in the early 1990s and enjoyed live performances and DJ sets by techno artists such as Carl Craig and Baby Ford. In the hours leading up to events, he walked the streets, taking in the ordinary sights and sounds that tourists enjoy.
Eventually, his interest turned to a deeper side of the city. He noticed countless colorful and simple "business cards" from sex workers pasted inside the iconic red telephone booths around major subway stations.
He continued to collect these cards on every subsequent visit to London, and even today, he collects and exchanges them whenever he finds them.
This book is a compilation of his vast collection. To reproduce the two-color printing texture unique to the cards of that time, various colored papers and inks were used. It also serves as an archive, documenting the rough yet somewhat nostalgic design techniques seen in the early 1990s, and conveying the tasteful, rough fonts and illustrations that were widely used in underground culture.
