This is the first photo book by Los Angeles-based photographer Jack Bool, who was featured in DRAIN issue 01.
"Storytelling" is always at the core of the work, and the book expresses a passion for encounters with people and places. The design was done by graphic designer Toru Kase. Released by Same Paper, a publishing label in Shanghai, China.
"Tailgating in parking lots, fire school demonstrations, NASCAR races, hanging around swimming pools, betting on pig races. These gatherings were performative, like grand American theater, and often dressed up as surreal, commercialized fantasy. I often found myself participating in this fantasy. Wherever I went, I felt like I belonged there. Now I live in Los Angeles, figuring out how much I could spend on a coffee table, having conversations about stews and taxes. I photograph clothes and models in my clothes, and people who are trying to be models in my clothes. I haven't had a drink in almost a year. I find myself worrying about what people think of catering, designer lighting equipment, and sometimes my shoes." - Jack Bool
