We are pleased to present "BE L'EAU," an exhibition by New York-born, Los Angeles-based photographer Colin Sussingham.
This exhibition commemorates the release of the collection "BE L'EAU," co-published by commune Press and FRIEND EDITIONS (NY), run by Oliver Shaw, and will feature 15 selected works from the collection on display for the first time.
"BE L'EAU" is an underwater series that Colin photographed between 2019 and 2021, capturing friends swimming in his home pool. The beauty of the human body, which shows various expressions due to the flow of water and the refraction of light, creates a fantastical world with shadows and gradations. The sight of them dancing in the water, completely naked, evokes the birth of life. Here we see an overwhelming beauty that embodies a variety of emotions: supple and graceful, at times strong and weak, joy and sadness, anger and fear.
This series, which stands out from Colin's previous works, will not only further publicize his talent, but will also serve as an opportunity to reaffirm the preciousness of life.

This series of works transports the viewer to another world.
Colourful and dramatic, beautiful and eerie, the body is celebrated and liberated.
Water pressure and gravity, lack of visibility and constant breathing.
They are forces that create peace and tension, grace and anguish, liberation and resistance.
