Akasha Rabut is a New Orleans-based photographer who explores the multicultural phenomena and traditions of people of different nationalities and ethnicities rooted in the American South. This is her first photo book, documenting the resilient people of New Orleans surviving turbulent times over the course of about 10 years.
The book captures the city's spirit through its next-generation representatives, including the all-female motorcycle club "The Caramel Curves" and urban cowboys "The Southern Riderz." Advocating for a deep understanding and preservation of its cultural heritage while redefining its ever-changing landscape, the book serves as a conduit for sharing New Orleans, its people's love, and its boundless beauty with the world. This peaceful book visualizes the healthy cycle of a global society, where communities ultimately heal themselves because groups show great respect for each other, not just for themselves.
