"Full Heart Message", a solo exhibition by Jeffrey Cheung is a showcase of work made in Tokyo during his 1 month residency at gallery commune. Ink and oil pastel drawn in subways parks, cafes, and the studio, "Full Heart Message" is a display of Cheung’s studies.

These free-flowing drawings and paintings explore tenderness and sensuality through his interpretations of his surroundings and experiences, and his imagination. Sometimes through intimate and quiet moments, and other times humorous and absurd, Cheung’s contour-based works examine the fabric of human connection.

The title, inspired by a massage parlor with a typo in its name, shows a playful take of how something can have deeper meaning and lightness from misinterpretation, and symbolizes the need and importance of love and care we are able to give to each other in our daily lives.

Jeffrey Cheung (b. 1989) is a Bay Area based Chinese-American artist, and the founder of Unity Press, Unity Skateboarding, and THERE Skateboards. Cheung’s bright, figurative work celebrates queerness within his personal life and within skate culture. His art examines freedom, identity, and intersectionality through bold color and intertwined characters.
