Saki Obata “Each Life”
EXHIBITION |Saturday, June 6, 2020 - Sunday, June 28, 2020
Obata Saki "Each Lifestyle"
Venue: Gallery Commune
Obata Saki, who has been depicting the narrative-rich four seasons of Japan in her "Seasonal Records" series, will be holding an exhibition titled "Each Life" in which she expresses everyday scenes from an even more personal perspective.
The COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed our daily lives, and over the past few months, it has forced each of us to reexamine our own way of life.
We hope that this exhibition will inspire you to take the next step forward, as it will make you realize once again that we all live our lives through relationships with others and appreciate the things we take for granted.
The works on display this time were created based on daily sketches.
The sketches I have accumulated are like scenes from everyday life, like someone else's life, but also like my own; they are sketches I left like notes when I wanted to capture the subtle movements of my heart, such as feeling the warmth of the morning sunshine, the comfort of the sound of the trees swaying in the wind, or the luxury of the silence of the night, in the mundane daily life with nothing particularly worth talking about.
I hope that this work will touch upon memories and sensations.
