Hiroshi Tanigawa, owner of the vintage clothing store "PALETOWN" in Hatagaya, has finally launched the "ernest project," in which he uses his keen aesthetic eye to discover and collect items that touch his heart, mainly vintage folk art.
During his travels to the United States, which he makes several times a year, he collects a collection of masterpieces and rare objects, inspired and lost, but guided by his own imagination. He uncovers beloved found objects, uncovered by intuition, touch, and a little knowledge, along with dates and messages written on them, and discovers who created them and for what purpose.
This exhibition will feature a mix of works by anonymous artists, as well as works by Tanigawa's friends, up-and-coming artists Dino Matt and Justin Cole Smith, whom he met on his travels. Although Tanigawa encountered both artists in America, these works are not usually displayed side by side. Based on Tanigawa's characteristic idea of "seeing the old and the new on the same level" in everyday life, ernest project presents new value.
In addition to the exhibited works, new merchandise will also be available for purchase at the venue. We look forward to seeing you there.
