Saki Obata Exhibition "One Year"

Venue: Gallery Commune

We are pleased to present "One Year," an exhibition by Obata Saki, who is popular for her "Seasonal Records" series, which depicts the narrative-rich four seasons of Japan.
This exhibition will feature original artwork from the 2024 and 2025 Obata Ayaki x commune calendars, as well as the manga "kinderszenen," which was serialized in the magazine "Haha no Tomo" (Fukuinkan Shoten), as well as new works.
Once again, her signature skillful perspective and exquisitely placed props that enrich the scenery create beautiful visual works that are alive and well. She depicts the passing of a year with the changing of the seasons, remembering each day with various senses. Please take a look.

As each year passes by more quickly, I try to think back and wonder what I was doing, but I have forgotten much and am unable to recall it well. But still, as the seasons change, I can suddenly recall not only big things but also very small things - what I was doing and feeling this time last year, or a few years ago this time - triggered by the smell of spring, the sounds of summer insects, the loneliness of autumn, the warmth I feel in winter.
