Venue: Gallery Commune

This will be the first solo exhibition in Japan by American photographer Dan Monique, who consistently attracts attention for his original work with a unique perspective.
This exhibition tells the ongoing story of the ever-changing city of Los Angeles through landscape photographs of the city that continues to fascinate artists.

Displayed like giant strips of film, Monique's photographs take the viewer on a nighttime journey through the neon-lit streets of Los Angeles.
As she drives through the night, Monique surveys the city, noting the familiar blue glow of fluorescent lights, nocturnal coyotes, a Patrick Nagel knockoff nail salon poster, a crooked newspaper box, a fortune teller's window, and a ridiculous bathroom hand dryer.
"So much of Los Angeles has always been left behind. It's always been in a constant state of hustle and bustle, with the illusion of fame. And that's changed. Change is a good thing, but erasure is never a good thing." He believes these elements have formed the foundation of a city that many people associate with glamour and desire.

There's a certain romanticism in capturing a city that's rapidly changing. The images are not only a homage to what disappears, but also a celebration of patience. "Before, when I discovered something, I would make a note to photograph it later. But now I think the opposite: I want to say 'sorry I'm late' to things that may not be there tomorrow, and say goodbye to romance to all images." This is why Monique's photographs celebrate the profound and true beauty of Los Angeles.

In addition to the exhibited works, new merchandise will also be available for purchase at the venue. We look forward to seeing you there.
