From Ace Hotel Kyoto website -
We’re excited to welcome graphic artist and sculptor ancco as the fourth Artist in Residence (A!R) at Ace Hotel Kyoto. Her exhibition, titled “Dungeon”, draws from her experiences and reflections during residencies across different locations in recent years. For ancco, diving deep into thought and navigating the unknown in unfamiliar environments feels much like

progressing through stages in a role-playing game. Creating work in a new place allows her to rediscover and reconstruct herself—like hitting a reset button and beginning a new life in a new home.
These temporary stays come with an inevitable sense of urgency, different from the comfort of familiarity. The limited time encourages quicker decisions, as if selecting a character in a game and moving with purpose toward a goal. It’s a meditative yet game-like process of exploration and self-reinvention.

This exhibition presents a collection of drawings and ceramic sculptures inspired by that journey. Come and experience her fantastical world for yourself.
